Ocean Kayaking
For those seeking a more active experience, take your kayak out on the ocean. The waves provide a great workout and a chance to challenge your skills while enjoying the stunning coastal views.
Mickler's Landing
Ocean Adventures Await
For many visitors and residents, a true Ponte Vedra Beach water experience includes the ocean. Combining kayaking with the ocean offers the best of both worlds—and if you’re feeling adventurous, you might even try stand-up paddleboarding.
Mickler’s Landing Beach is a great spot to start. Located at the southern end of Ponte Vedra Beach, just north of the Guana Tolomato Matanzas Reserve, the area offers parking, restrooms, showers, and a mix of pavilions, picnic tables, and grills if you want to extend your stay after kayaking.
The beach has a gradual shoreline and typically moderate waves, making it easier to launch your kayak. When entering the water, pull your kayak into knee-deep water and position it facing the oncoming waves. Stay close to the shoreline so that if you capsize or need to exit quickly, it’s easy to get back to land safely.

✓ Start Early for Comfort
Beat the summer heat by heading out on the water early. Early mornings also mean easier parking and more of the beach to yourself.
✓ Gear Up Properly
Bring a hat, sunscreen, camera, phone, water, and wear comfortable clothing that can get wet. Consider waterproof phone cases and sun-protective clothing.
✓ Reserve Ahead
If you’re renting equipment, book in advance so all you have to do is show up and get on the water faster.
✓ Stay Hydrated and Eco-Friendly
Bring a refillable water bottle that can attach to your vessel and use the water bottle filling station at Mickler’s Landing Park.
✓ Protect the Environment
Use trash and recycling stations, and avoid letting any materials enter the water.
✓ Plan for Relaxation
Take advantage of the park’s picnic tables and pavilions for a post-kayak meal or snack.
✓ Choose Safe, Ocean-Friendly Sunscreen
Use sunscreens free of oxybenzone and octinoxate to protect your skin and marine life.
