Ponte Vedra Beach to St. Augustine

Road Biking the Coast

While many may choose a mountain bike or beach cruiser when biking in Ponte Vedra Beach, if you’re a road biker, try a straight shot down A1A from Ponte Vedra Beach to St. Augustine. You’ll enjoy ocean views and the salt air for much of the ride and see many small residential communities between the two cities.

You can depart from any number of parking areas, but two to consider are Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park and the north parking lot of the GTM Research Reserve. Once you’re on the road, be careful — most of A1A does not have designated bike lanes, and the roadway can be narrow. Help drivers by riding single file, wearing bright clothing, biking during daylight hours, and following all traffic laws.

If you ride from Mickler’s Landing, it’s about a 17-mile trip to St. Augustine one way.
