View Public Art in Ponte Vedra
Discovering art in public spaces can add an unexpected and enriching dimension to your Ponte Vedra experience.
Bird Island Park
More Than Just a Park
Bird Island Park is a must-visit for both locals and visitors. While many come to enjoy the diverse flora and fauna as they stroll the grounds, the park also offers a variety of unique public art experiences. The Mosaic Amphitheater, for example, showcases colorful tile interpretations of the area’s wildlife. Each tier represents a different habitat—Freshwater Marsh, Coastal Dune, and Upland Hammock—featuring butterflies, otters, alligators, pelicans, and wild hogs.
Scattered throughout the park, you’ll find sculptures that capture the imagination, from a child quietly reading a book to a whimsical, oversized turtle. Don’t miss the Turtle Maze, a large hedged sea turtle complete with shade trees and four art-adorned benches in the center, offering a perfect spot to pause, relax, and take in your surroundings.

The Milam Residence
Architecture as Art
The Milam Residence is positioned along Ponte Vedra Boulevard and is one of the region’s best examples of Sarasota Modern Architecture. Designed in 1960 by recognized architect Paul Rudolph, it was named ''House of the Year'' in 1963 by The Architectural Record. The home was named after Arthur W. Milam, a philanthropist.
The home showcases a mix of geometric shapes and is often cited as an example of cubist architecture. It has 200’ of ocean frontage with lush vegetation, including a large pool and detached guest house. Views of the house are limited from the roadway; you really need to stroll up from Mickler Beach, along the beachfront, to get the full appreciation of the unique architectural beauty Rudolph brought to this home.
